Testimonials from guests of Casa Carlino

We are pleased to present a selection of unsolicited testimonials from our guests staying at Casa Carlino.

Casa Carlino is a little gem.

It’s the perfect location to get away from it all and experience local italian life - yet with good access to all the main sightseeing opportunities of Sorrento, Pompeii and day trip to Capri, to name but a few.

Casa Carlino villa is clean and comfortable with all modern amenities and a lovely view across the rooftops from its high position. The local food is just delicious, with fresh vegetables, inexpensive good wine and excellent traditional italian dishes at nearby restaurants.

We chose not to hire a car and enjoyed the 40 minute walk and beautiful vistas on our way to Sant’Agata sui due Golfi - enjoying good coffee and cake in the town before catching the regular bus service to Sorrento.

Aldo and Deborah made it easy to make arrangements for transfer to and from the airport, and with family nearby we felt home from home!

One of our favourite days out was on the Enogastronomic Tour Schiazzano at La Masseria holiday farm in a village not far from the villa. It was an interesting and entertaining experience touring the olive and lemon groves, tasting gorgeous olive oil, fresh lemons (yes - sweet enough to eat!) freshly made mozzarella, and home-made wine before heading to Aldo’s cousin Lucio's pizzeria to create our own fresh pizzas accompanied by raucous clapping, dancing and singing!

We also made it down to the local marina at the foot of the hill (a very long walk but worth it - and there is a bus to bring you back up if you don’t fancy the long walk!) where restaurants can be found jutting out into the sea serving all kinds of delightful food and traditional home-made italian ice cream.

If you like a holiday with a local feel, freshly grown produce, beautiful views, plenty to explore, and the sea - and far away from the madding crowd - this is the perfect holiday for you!

Perfect holiday!

Dear Aldo and Deborah What a perfect holiday in a superb location ! it was everything we had hoped for and more !

we didn't want to stay in a hotel in a big city or town, preferring instead to stay in what we hoped would be accommodation where we could potentially experience a more " traditional Italian " holiday and we weren't disappointed !! We were a group of four including my 77yr old mother who loved the roof top balcony and had no problem climbing the stairs leading to the roof, she just loved it up there !!

Casa Carlino is a beautiful Italian Villa, in a lovely area really clean, tidy and comfortable, and spacious enough for four adults to occupy for a week. We had everything we needed to make our holiday a very enjoyable experience, it was our first visit to this area and we would definitely make a return trip, and would highly recommend it to other holiday makers wanting to explore this part of Italy and experience an Italian way of life for a short time !.

There is a little shop next door which we visited several times, the young woman who served us couldn't have been nicer, or friendlier to us !! As we dont speak Italian she was happy to provide us with some very basic Italian lessons which made us all laugh ! And even with the language barrier she still managed to make us feel very welcome, all of which added to our positive holiday experience !

When we were out and about exploring the area we stopped at the local supermarkets, and shopped at little local shops along the way, both of which had everything we needed, lovely local bread, meat, cheeses and salad vegetables, and some beautifully tasting local wine ! Everybody we met was very friendly and helpful.

The view from the roof top is unbelievably beautiful what ever time of day you view it ! and when we were not out sight seeing we could be found up on the roof just drinking in the atmosphere and the local wine !!

We had hired a car in Rome and driven to Casa Carlino, which wasn't as traumatic as we had been led to believe ! and the Villas owner (Aldo) had very kindly provided us with directions which really helped.

During our time at the Villa we visited the town of Sorrento on several occasions during the day and at night which we loved. Lots of lovely shops to explore ! and restaurants eat at, and the harbor area is beautiful ! We also visited Pompeii a fabulous experience not to be missed !! and spent many happy hours on some lovely beaches, with great beach bars and restaurants very close by, the weather was fantastic ! which made swimming and sunbathing very pleasurable in deed !

All that remains to be said now about our holiday, is a great big thank you to Anna (Aldos sister ) and her family for making us feel so very welcome ! Again despite the language barrier Anna made us feel comfortable and at home !, she was so very friendly and helpful and nothing was to much trouble !

Please would you Aldo pass on our appreciation and grateful thanks to Anna, and her family, as her presence definitely made our stay at the villa a very pleasurable experience indeed !! And as i look out of my window onto a very grey wet English Autumn day i really wish we were back at Casa Carlino doing it all over again ! Thank you again, it was wonderful perfect holiday !

Just perfect!

Dear Aldo,

After one very nice, interesting and active week around the Penisola Sorrentina, we are back again in our swiss way of life.

However, we are missing the sun, the flowers, the sea (my wife did swim at Paestum), the pizze, the fish plates, the small cars overpassing us in blind corners, the fine italian arts, the unusual parking places, and overall the kindness of your family and of the people we met.

We were very busy visitating every day nice places like Vesuvio, Reggia di Caserta, Vecchiacaserta, Ercolano, Paestum, Isola di Capri and the nice villages at Costiera Amalfitana, espacially Positano, Amalfi and Ravello.

You can see that we really enjoy it. It was also a good time to visit, spring nature, relatively reduced traffic, less tourists, not too warm.

Just perfect.

Location of Casa Carlino has also been very suitable for the kind of visits we have realized. Confort of your house is very good, everything at its place and clean. I have also appreciated the individual garage for the rented car.

Last but not least, I must say that our staying has been illuminated from the first moment by the kindness of Anna and her family, espacially after our first driving expericence from Rom, inside Easter traffic. Please sent them all our best personal greetings.

Wishing a successful renting season for Casa Carlino, I remain with my best regards.

Idyllic holiday!

Casa Carlino is ideal if you’re looking to stay in the Bay of Naples area of Italy but wanting to get away from hotels and resorts, and experience something of the relaxed lifestyle of a rural village. Anna and family (Aldo’s relatives) are very welcoming and helpful, and are on hand in neighbouring apartments.

The apartment is clean and bright, simply furnished Ikea-style, and makes a comfortable base for 4-6 people. Don’t be concerned that the sofa-bed might be small – it isn’t. My favourite place was the large roof terrace with its wonderful views of the bay and countryside.

We chose not to hire a car, and instead use the good-value buses (the bus-stop is right by Casa Carlino), and we had no problems doing our sightseeing this way, sometimes taking the Circumvesuviana railway on from Sorrento. We easily filled a week with visits to Pompeii, Herculaneum, Sorrento, Capri and the beach at Nerano. For the return to the airport, Aldo’s friend Nico drove us for a very reasonable price.

Tip for the cost-conscious: do try the extremely cheap unlabelled local wine – it’s really very good!

Perfection!

We decided to give our three children an adventure holiday this year as they have never been abroad, and what an adventure it was! After sucessfully driving through Europe and into Italy, our car decided that the engine would blow up 400 miles short of the apartment. Once we knew the car was a write off, I contacted Aldo who offered any help he could give us, including translation, which we found came in handy.

On our arrival at the apartment we were met by Aldo's sister, Anna, who had very kindly bought us milk and a large bottle of wine, which we managed to polish off later that night in no time at all. As we had no car for the duration of our stay (guess who forgot the credit card needed for car hire) Aldo's family went out of their way to give us lifts to beaches, train stations and even the hotel we had to stay in whilst waiting for our flight 2 days later than we expected to go home.

The apartment itself is just as described, with everything you will need and more (thanks for the kids books, my eldest daughter now wants the complete collection of Horrid Henry), its location is absolutely perfect, minutes (drive) from the beach, S.Agata, a lovely little town just up the road and Sorrento just over half an hour away (on the bus). For anyone without a car, there is a bus stop just outside the apartment and buses run to the timetable, train stations we used were all on bus routes and the local shop sells everything you need and takes less than 5 minutes walk and you get a cheery welcome.

Plenty of beaches around the area and more things to do than you will ever get time for.

When we left the apartment, we felt like we were old friends of Aldo whose family had given us the royal treatment, I cannot describe the hospitality we received. If you do stay here, go to the restaurant next door, you will be amazed, 3 people work there, the only waitress zips round everyone without you even noticing and the best food you will have tasted will arrive within minutes on your table. If you like walking, then S.Agata is a lovely little town reached on foot in about 40 minutes (this is with 3 tired and hot children), with a bank and cash machine, restaurants and bars as well as shops.

If you are looking for somewhere that doesn't sound like you are in the middle of Ibiza town centre at night, enjoy the best ever hospitality, enjoy history and sightseeing then this is for you, and we did it all on the buses and trains too!

A great base for exploring

We had a lovely week at Casa Carlino. The apartment was nice and cool (we appreciated the air con) and having a secure garage for the car was great, especially after witnessing the local driving! Although our boys became hooked on the Wii, we nevertheless managed to explore the surrounding areas both by bus and car.

The locals were friendly and helpful, and it was easy to reach Pompeii/Herculaneum/Positano etc (which was the main reason for our visit). Aldo was very helpful with information and advice in advance - many thanks!

Easter in Sorrento

We have just returned from having a lovely time in Casa Carlino. From the outset Aldo and Deborah have been excellent in providing us with information about the house and responding to emails. The house is located outside Sorrento and we really enjoyed being out of the main tourist area.

The house has been very accurately described in the advert and we received a warm welcome from Aldo's family. Throughout our stay it was resassuring to have this continued support during the holiday. I will be recommending this house to any of my friends and family who want to visit Sorrento.

Thanks for a great holiday.

Sorrento, Napoli, a great nine days!

We stayed at casa carlino in late October, the area was much quieter than you would find at the peak of the summer. The accommodation is well descript and is excellent for a sight seeing or adventure holidays, as this region offers so much, to name but a few locations; the Amalfi, Positano and Sorrento coast lines are the most beautiful sights you will find in the Campania region, old Sorrento itself is a good day out and Pompei is a must, also if you find time Napoli by ferry is so easy, although the local Bus, Metro and Train service is well integrated.

A final word on the hospitality Aldo was helpful in all the booking arrangements, a big thank you, also his niece Marherita was excellent, her advice on local issues such as where to eat and buy food was very helpful and a special thanks from us to her.

A note on driving if you do hire a car try to avoid main towns at peak times, unless you enjoy sitting in traffic jams for a few hours, we will definitely re-book in the summer months in the future thanks again.

Fantastic holiday!

Our stay was extremely comfortable with Casa Carlino more than meeting our expectations. The hospitality given by Margherita who looks after the house, was really lovely and it was reassuring to know that she was on hand if we needed her. The Views from Casa Carlino and the surrounding area are breathtaking and being that the house is situated in a small village, we still felt in the heart of the Napolitan atmosphere.

Aldo and his family were all very helpful to us both throughout the booking process and also during our stay.
